Junkyard City OCT- Reyn

UPDATE: Reyn's bracelet goes on the outside of his sleeve. This means it is visible to other competitors. He can push the sleeves up underneath it and take the jacket off if need be.

History
Born and raised in Birmingham, Reyn lived a normal teenage life until his twenties. He went to public schools and was always a popular student, despite being only adequate at both academics and sports. He was considered both friendly and, according to the girls (and one or two boys), good-looking. As an only-child, his parents tended to spoil him, and this lead to him being slightly selfish and having a false sense of entitlement, both of which he was entirely oblivious to. After high school he still remained popular and well-liked, and was friends with a wide social group. A week after his 20th birthday, Reyn and his parents went to London for a holiday. After a day of sightseeing alone (giving his parents some space) Reyn was supposed to meet his parents at a restaurant for dinner, but he never showed up. They never saw him again.

For Reyn, that was the day his human life ended. After being bitten, Reyn discovered the existence of an entire supernatural community living behind or often within the human one. He disappeared into the London underground, knowing his family wouldn’t understand how their sweet little boy could ever become, well... a blood sucking creature of darkness.
Reyn has now lived in London for ten years, and earns a living running odd jobs for the supernatural community. Being a vampire has tempered his personality a bit, especially as he now has to work for a living, and he’s no longer spoilt, because of the low standing vampires hold. He's still quite popular among other unpretentious supernaturals though.

Personality
Reyn is in many ways a typical young adult. He’s got a dry sense of humour, often using sarcasm or droll turns-of-phrase, but is rarely malicious. He doesn’t trust everyone immediately, especially in unfamiliar situations, but is often willing to give the benefit of the doubt. Reyn is slightly more serious now that he’s a vampire. He has to deal with constant cravings, and years of supporting himself in an often dangerous world has made him more adult than he used to be. He's definitely not the brooding type. He enters new situations with caution, but will give something his all once he works out his stance. Despite being technically thirty, Reyn’s personality is still very much that of the age he was turned at, which is typical for vampires. When angry or sad, Reyn is typically not very prone to dramatics.

Strengths
- Slightly stronger than a human being
- Slightly faster than a human being
- Can see quite well in the dark
- Inability to age
- Incredibly strong jaw

Weaknesses
- Cannot stand sunlight long. Exposed skin will last about a minute in direct sun, after which it will start to turn redder and redder, after another minute of which it will start to blister, like severe sunburn. Any further exposure beyond another minute at this point will result in combustion. However, the protective field of the screw has happily nullified sunlight as a threat. But this protection surely must have weaknesses…

- Vulnerability. Reyn doesn’t age, but he’s not invulnerable. He will bruise and bleed. He can heal from wounds quickly, but beheading or any weapon through the heart will kill him permanently. Defeating Reyn may rely less on "killing" him, and more on incapacitating him to the point of defeat.

Abilities
- Reyn has the vampiric ability to control shadows. This means he can force them up off the ground, stretch them out, and make them somewhat solid. His capabilities are dependent on the size of the shadow and on how much blood he has had recently. For example, he could do more with the shadow of a car than he could with the shadow of a pencil. The skill is at its strongest either when he’s just eaten a lot, or he’s on the point of starvation. It can fully take over if he is in life-threatening danger or really, really mad (kind of like a berserk mode), or if he’s had a lot/very little blood recently. Therefore Reyn has to be careful to maintain a balance between starving himself, or overfeeding. During berserk shadow manipulation, his eyes turn fully black.

Attire:
Reyn wears a blue t-shirt, black jacket with white cords and zip, and grey skinny jeans. The pink and white low-top Converse were a gift from a friend. The red-glass vial around his neck is plugged with a cork- only Reyn knows what's inside. The screw is located on his left wrist, and is pale pink _{(because I am a jerk )}

Vampirism _{(Please note: these are just my concepts of vampirism for the world and story Reyn comes from. I am in no way suggesting these are rules for every vampire character ever.)}
In Reyn’s world, vampirism is not death. Vampires are not the undead, but more like people with a... condition. Vampires are weak to sunlight, and bright lights may temporarily stun. Vampires are not weak to crosses or religious grounds, or running water. Vampires can eat, but it will not satisfy their hunger, and they do not get food cravings. Many vampires are heavy drinkers, as alcohol will intoxicate them, but their fast healing will prevent hangovers/poisoning. A vampire can only be permanently killed by piercing through the heart (any substance including metal, plastic, wood etc), or beheading. All other ailments will heal over time, and even muscle and bone can be regrown. Normally fatal wounds such as head trauma will "kill" until healing is complete. Vampires can get sicknesses, but will heal.

Vampires are pale (regardless of skin colour), but not sheet-white, and have fangs that simply appear like sharper canines. Their fangs are always extended. Vampires do not hiss. Vampires cannot change their shape (that requires magic). Animals often react oddly around vampires- they may be terrified one minute, then cuddling up the next, then terrified again. Vampires cannot hear heartbeats or smell people from afar. The real problem in controlling a vampire’s hunger is simply keeping their thoughts from it. Vampires can go into feeding frenzies where they will eat from many victims at once, and will become super full afterwards. This may slow down their movement and reactions, and is known as 'bloodglut'.

In Reyn’s world, any supernatural creature can tell another. This is simply an inbuilt instinct. They cannot sense them from afar- only by looking upon them. Vampires- being formally human- are considered a lower class than many other supernatural creatures.

I feel like Reyn might be a bit of a hard sell- firstly because vampires are both loved and hated in popular culture at the moment, and secondly because I will be doing literature entries.
